Staying at The Courtyard by Marriott in Liberty Station | San Diego

THE HOTEL

The Courtyard Marriott sits on the very edge of Liberty Station. Right in front of the San Diego International airport, separated by a large body of water that leads into the bay of San Diego. Parking was plentiful and check in was a breeze! The front desk also had a few surprises for me.

They said that the parking fee was waived for all customers. That is a major plus! San Diego hotels are notorious for charging for parking. In Downtown, it is normal to see a $50 parking fee added to your bill and no there is no other place to park. Please be advised that this perk is from at the time of my stay, I don’t know how long the are allowing guests to have free parking.

At check-in they tell you what is and is not currently open. I was able to get a picture of the list of updates they have for guests near the elevator.

California is still in process of opening more and more areas of commerce. I was happy to see that the pool and gym were open to guests.

Unfortunately none of their on-site restaurants and bars are open. The bright side of this is you are just a short 10-minute walk or 5-minute drive away from one of San Diego’s best places to eat.

LIBERTY STATION.

THE ROOM

For my 1-night stay, my splurge perk is a nice view. San Diego is a beautiful city, so why not enjoy it with a balcony or wide window that show you a different view of the city.

I booked the King Room with View and it was such a beautiful view. My room faced the bay of San Diego so you could see downtown in the distance. There was a nice little sitting area with a good sized mini fridge and microwave. The room was very clean and I really appreciated their efforts to show their guests that cleanliness was on their priority list.

An example of this would be that certain items were bagged to ensure that the item had been disinfected prior to my check in. One being my remote control.

The rooms were quite at night. I did not hear any noise from my neighbors which is always a big plus.

OVERALL

I enjoyed my stay very much! The fact that everything was clean, staff was friendly and the vast majority of restaurants around this property make it a great place to stay.

I can only imagine how great it will be once it’s two restaurants and bar are back open.

I also included a vlog for those who prefer a visual instead!
